Police have confirmed a shooting occurred near the Chanhassen Cinema late Thursday night. According to the Carver County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call came in at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, reporting a shooting in the area of the theater.
Upon arrival, authorities found a 20-year-old man with an apparent gunshot wound to his leg. The man was transported to Hennepin Healthcare with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.
Authorities learned the 20-year-old had met up with “several other male subjects” in the parking lot, according to the Carver County Sheriff’s Office. One of the male suspects pulled out a gun and demanded the 20-year-old give him money. The 20-year-old attempted to disarm the suspect and was shot in the leg, according to the sheriff’s office.
The suspects fled the scene, authorities said, and have not yet been identified.
The incident remains under investigation.
