The Government is asking for the public’s opinion, via an online consultation, on how National Lottery money is to be shared between the arts, film, sport and heritage. Every year, the National Lottery raises over £1 billion to be shared between ‘good causes’. Arts and film, heritage and sport are three of these good causes and the amounts they all receive are set until 2009. The consultation is asking what the allocations should be after that date. Each year film receives just 2% of Lottery money – that’s £26 million in real terms – but even this amount could be under threat.
