HUNDREDS of tons of steel scaffolding, at Odeon Towers in Beach Road Strand, collapsed and hurtled to the ground early on Thursday last week, after one of the supports of the structure was allegedly dislodged during gale force wind conditions. No one was killed or injured, nor any vehicles damaged. “Despite all that went wrong, we were also very lucky, ” Frans Brand of Paintmasters told DistrictMail on Tuesday. “Fortunately, it happened at night, at a time when there were no cars in the parking lot or passing traffic. The only casualties were two broken windows in the building.”
