The age of the super cinemas

Talking of cinemas, which we have been in Nostalgia in recent weeks, a notable anniversary falls tomorrow. On June 27, 1938 the Odeon, the first of Halifax’s super cinemas, opened at the corner of Broad Street and Orange Street. The other, the Regal, later the ABC, opened later in the year, on September 19, at Ward’s End.
