Projectionist – The massive multiplex you flock to on opening night still has at least one small holdover from the days when a projectionist was the only way to change reels during a film: black “cue marks” on the upper-right hand corner of the screen. Those ovals signal to the projectionist that its time to switch to the next reel of film to continue the movie. This type of projectionist, though, is now harder to come by due in no small part to automated timer systems in modern megaplexes. Digital projection, while still far from widespread, is also bearing down on the traditional projectionist.
