CINEMA: ITALY CAN’T PRESENT MIDDLE EAST-SET FILM FOR THE OSCARS

Rome, 13 Oct. (AKI) – Italy’s candidate for the 2006 Academy Awards, “Private” a film that explores the tensions between a Palestinian family and a group of Israeli soldiers, won’t be able to take part in the competion because the film’s dialogue is in Arabic, English and Hebrew, and not Italian. Italy’s main film production and distribution bodies, ANICA and API, made the announcement on Thursday.
