PALME, Dubai – (18th – 20th April, 2010) Christie Middle East has occupied a central position at the PALME Middle East shows since setting up its regional office back in May 2007. PALME 2010 (Dubai International Exhibitions Centre, April 18-20) has been no exception with Simon Smith and his team setting out a range of dynamic and innovative new products.
Said Simon Smith, “We are also delighted to see that Sanctuary nightclub in Dubai – featuring 28 Christie projectors specified by partner, VenueTech – was the winner of PALME’s Best Entertainment Venue category.
The venue is stunningly realised through Christie projection. The innovative slant the projection by VenueTech has given to the Sanctuary’s visual landscape is taking Dubai to the forefront of nightlife – and far beyond.”
Christie® MicroTiles was the subject of a seminar given by Sales Consultant, Africa, Phil Lord, who used them as a base to discuss ‘Exploiting Current Trends and Future Trends of Digital Signage Technology and LED’. Christie also have major control room presence in the GCC region, and Phil Lord took the opportunity to outline ‘Future Control Rooms – the way the market is moving to lower cost of ownership through new technology.’
As one of the Gold sponsors of PALME 2010 Christie is taking full advantage, and is presenting leading-edge products for all their major market sectors, including 3D/Simulation; Broadcast/Control Rooms, Digital Cinema, Rental Staging, and AV Integration – all demonstrating true cost of ownership.
Pride of place is taken by MicroTiles. Said PALME Show director, Alex Heuff, “Industry hotspots such as digital displays technologies, video conferencing and command and control facilities will feature strongly at this year’s PALME event, and we are delighted to be showcasing a number of industry firsts for the region including the Middle East introduction of the latest in display technology – MicroTiles from industry leader Christie.
“Design experts have described the system as a revolution in display technology and one of the wonders of the world in displays,” Heuff continued. “The digital display tiles can be stacked and clustered like building blocks to create walls of any shape or scale, using an optical design that produces unparalleled levels of brightness, contrast and colour reproduction.”
Christie – whose global customers include Disney, the BBC, Toyota, the Cannes International Film Festival, Nasdaq, Harrods, the China Film Council and NASA – see a broad application base for MicroTiles, including boardrooms, broadcast studios, digital signage, houses of worship, live venues, retail advertising, government and educational facilities.

LX605: At 6000 ANSI lumens the Christie LX605 is ideal for medium to large venue presentations – designed for easy setup, high performance, and use in a myriad of installation applications since it is capable of accepting a wide range of sources. It has been boosted by a new four-corner geometry correction tool, 3D Keystone technology, as well as centre lens design with motorised lens shift for easy setup.
Mirage HD6: This sets a new benchmark in stereographic projection as the first and only full 1920 x 1080 HD resolution 3D active stereo solution, utilised in a single projector or multi-projector array. The Mirage HD6 enables a new level of compatibility with computers and infrastructure that supports HD active stereo, up to 120Hz output due to unique image processing technology from up to 60Hz input, without requiring super bandwidth DVI or analogue infrastructure.
DHD700: The HD single-chip DLP® projector delivers high brightness in full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. It features a unique, user-changeable, twin-colour wheel system that the user can tailor to maximise either high brightness needs or superior colour reproduction (depending on the presentation). With an incredible 6500 ANSI lumens, and a series of six optional motorised, high definition lenses, the Christie DHD700 delivers superior image performance.
DS+6K-M: The most compact in its class, the Christie M Series platform delivers brightness, versatility, reliability and affordability. At 6300 ANSI lumens (dual lamps, 200W), it offers high efficiency and low cost of ownership by drawing a maximum power of 870W – offering full brightness while using less power. The Christie DS+6K-M has 1400 x 1050 native resolution and a variable contrast ratio of 2500-10,000:1 using dynamic iris (full on, full off) / 650:1 ANSI for crisp, detailed images.
HD18K: The Christie HD Series offers the broadest range of the brightest native HD resolution projectors – bar none. Lighter, lower power consumption and 10% brighter than the competition the Roadster HD18K HD DLP® digital projector is typical of the series, offering high resolution, crisp images from 10-bit processing combined with an HD platform.
CP2000-M: The most compact DLP Digital Cinema® projector in the world, this delivers up to 13,000 lumens of output power, and is designed to maintain DCI luminance requirements on smaller screens up to 35 feet wide. At less than 100lbs, the projector can be transported and installed by only two people. Based on .98″ DLP Digital Cinema® technology, the CP2000-M uses high efficiency 1800 and 2000 watt CDXL-SD Xenon lamps, while the competition requires larger, 3000 watt lamps for the same output – a clear Christie advantage on cost of ownership and lumens per watt.
Simon Smith concludes, “As the PALME show has broadened its base these products will address all our core market sectors.”
