Hisense and Texas Instruments develop 8K laser projection screens with new DLP chip

Hisense has for many years paraded their ‘laser TVs’ as an ‘affordable’ option to have screens as wide as 100 inches, but priced much cheaper than a conventional TV and capable of 4K HDR output. Based on the concept of ultra-short-throw projection systems that use a strong laser light source that shines through a color wheel and strikes the surface of a Texas Instruments DLP chip (which is essentially a DMD or Digital Micromirror Device that is made of millions of micro-mirrors each dedicated to one pixel of the image resolution) to process and project light through the projector’s lens, Hisense has rebranded this as a ‘Laser TV’ system that can project onto any wall or suitable screen .
