Alliance/eOne merger means Canadian cinema is screening with the big boys

When the Canadian Competition Bureau approved Entertainment One’s $225-million takeover of Alliance Films last week, one of the world’s largest independent film production companies, content creators across Canada took notice. As with book publishing, mergers tend to reduce the number of production options; however, a number of Canadian producers say that by combining the country’s largest film houses, Canada will be able to compete with studios across the globe.
