Basildon masterplan: New 10 screen Empire Cinema completes construction with an early 2022 opening planned – Essex Live

A record-breaking new Essex cinema has finished construction and is set to launch in Basildon town centre at the beginning of next year.The ten-screen Empire Cinema in Town Square has been undergoing construction since 2019, right before the Covid-19 pandemic hit, and now looks set to hit its opening target of February 2022.

The cinema is part of the town’s £25 million East Square development, which is set to also include six restaurants to drive interest into Basildon town centre and increase footfall.
