Since Malayalam cinema has undergone a renaissance in the last decade, after creating a number of innovative works with the influx of new young filmmakers, if measured by the quality of the films produced, it is without a doubt the first film industry in the India that has been. If the 2000s were the worst years for Malayalam movies, then the best period was of course the 1970s and 1980s, which witnessed the rise of the New Wave and the Middle Ages, respectively.This list is an attempt to compile the best mainline and independent movies I’ve seen over the years.
