The Bijou Art Cinemas on East 13th Avenue in Eugene has closed its doors, according to an announcement from the theater building’s owners.
The Bijou, an independent movie theater in the Wilcox Building at 492 E. 13th Ave., had been showing movies on its two screens since 1981.
“We are saddened by the permanent closure of the Bijou (Art) Cinema,” said Darren Stone, a co-owner of the Jennings Group, a real estate company that acts as the managing and leasing agent for the building’s owner, Wilcox Venture LLC.
