Britain’s box office started the year well, but coronavirus poses a huge threat

A lack of sure-fire successes from the likes of Disney’s Marvel and Lucasfilm will also prove a challenge for cinema operators.

First World War film 1917 and an adaptation of Little Women gave cinemas a solid start to the year, although fears are growing that the industry will be hammered by coronavirus and a lack of hits as 2020 grinds on.
