CINEMA-goers in Newquay got more drama than they were expecting when they were evacuated due to a fire.
The alarm was raised at the Lighthouse Cinema just after 9.15pm on Wednesday, July 13, when a fire was started in a bin in the men’s toilets. The blaze, caused by a man putting a cigarette into the waste paper bin, was “relatively small” but the cinema’s fire and smoke detection system picked it up and staff quickly evacuated the 200 people who were in the building.
