Cinema: a size XL economic sector

Presented yesterday by the CNC, a study by the BIPE reveals that the sectors of cinema, audiovisual, video and gaming production represented 16.2 billion euros in direct, indirect and induced added value (ie 0.8 % of the French GDP) in 2012, and over 340,000 jobs (1.3 % of French employment). The sectors funded by the CNC last year generated a direct added value of 8.5 billion euros, which is equivalent to that of the automobile industry (8.6 billion euros) and superior notably to that of the pharmaceutical industry (6.4 billion euros).
