In the first six months it’s been up and running, the Digital Cinema Distribution Coalition (DCDC) has delivered more than 70 films. The group has secured commitments to install satellite and/or terrestrial transmission technology in nearly 1,300 theaters covering 17,000 screens in North America. Some 950 of those are satellite-capable already. And with the acquisition of the Deluxe/EchoStar satellite network announced last week during CinemaCon, DCDC is adding nearly 1,000 cinemas—doubling the size of its own satellite network.
