Yesterday, Wanda-controlled AMC Theatres was revealed as the buyer of the European Odeon & UCI cinema chain (encompassing 242 locations that house 2,236 screens) in a deal valued at GBP £921 million (USD $1.199 billion). These terms mean AMC is getting a good deal, in what the company’s CEO and President, Adam Aron, admitted was an “opportunistic transaction,” representing “a once-in-a-generation opportunity to acquire Europe’s leading cinema chain and create the world’s biggest and best theatre operator.”
