Plans for the £50million rejuvenation of St Catherine’s Place in Bedminster have been thrown out by Bristol City Council. Members of the public applauded loudly when councillors voted to reject developer Firmstone’s proposal for a sprawling complex of homes, shops and offices, complete with a cinema. Five residential blocks between three and 17-storeys would have provided 205 homes at the neglected site in East Street.
