Where to begin? For the much of the movie Cats, I sat back in my chair holding my head in my hands questioning what I was seeing on the screen.
So ill judged.
I couldn’t help feeling disturbed at how attractive they had made the felines. It felt perverted and wrong.
Several other audience members must have agreed as there were walkouts in my screening at the Gloucester Quays Cineworld.
The actor’s bodies were enhanced by CGI to enhance the feline traits – however, it didn’t leave much to the imagination.
Idris Elba’s undercarriage flashed on screen several times as his tale whipped and his croaky singing voice carried through the picture.
This movie adaptation of the hit musical Cats, by Andrew Lloyd Webber, comes from the mind of Tom Hooper.
The Academy Award winning director Mr Hooper is responsible for fondly remembered movie The King’s Speech (2010), and less fondly remembered movies Les Miserables (2012) and The Danish Girl (2015) since.
Reportedly, the visuals in the film are in the process of being re-edited due to the onslaught of bad reviews. One can only hope they will be targeting Elba’s nether regions in the cut.
The movie is like a dark nightmare spiralling from the director’s acid soaked imagination.
