Bishop’s Stortford’s Empire and Uttlesford’s Saffron Screen are among 202 independent cinemas which will share in a £16m grant this Christmas.
The cash is coming from the Government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund. They will also be able to apply for another slice of £14m in the new year as part of a second round of support.
