There’s going to be a major revamp of the historic High Street building, which is expected to take up to three years.
Work to regenerate the historic Palace Theatre finally begins this week.
The historic building at the top of Swansea ’s High Street has stood empty for more than a decade, falling into neglect and disrepair, forcing it to be fenced off for safety reasons over the years.
The 132-year-old building has a rich history, having staged performances by stars such as Charlie Chaplin, Ken Dodd, and Morecambe and Wise, and it was where Sir Anthony Hopkins made his professional stage debut.
It has also served as a cinema, bingo hall and was last use as a gay club, but closed 14 years ago.
