Joachim Trier’s Cinema of Intimacy

Joachim Trier is not particularly concerned with plot. Instead, the Norwegian-born filmmaker sees himself as more of an anthropologist, motivated by exploring human behavior and identity, and capturing authentic interactions between real people. For Trier, this fascination began in adolescence, when he filmed his friends’ attempts at death-defying and technically-complex skate tricks.
