Last term Flix Student Run Cinema was facing closure. Now, thanks to the support of its new volunteers, Flix is back with a new regular day and a new direction. Loughborough’s only independent cinema now has an arts focus, offering a selection of the best independent and international films. Starting with critically acclaimed The Shape of Water on October 4th, the new season includes Oscar winner A Fantastic Woman, theological drama First Reformed and the classic Cinema Paradiso.
New Chair of Flix, Conor Butler says “I’d like to thank our volunteers whose energy and ideas have led to our new Flix Thursdays. The nearest art cinemas are in Leicester, Nottingham or Derby but we’re next to the School of Arts so we decided to go for it and offer something different for everyone in Loughborough.”
All films will be shown at 7.00pm on Thursdays and followed by discussion group #TalkFlix. In addition, Flix has again secured sponsorship for screening its foreign language films so entry to these is free to all, whilst tickets for other films are only £4.00 or £2.00 for concessions. The full programme can be found at www.flix.org.uk or search #FlixArts on social media.
