Park Circus to represent Woodfall Films

Glasgow, 19 May. Worldwide classic film distributor Park Circus is pleased to announce, following a strategic review by Woodfall, that it will now represent the Woodfall Films library for theatrical licensing in international territories. Woodall’s decision to award the international theatrical distribution to Park Circus sees the addition of iconic titles such asThe Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, The Entertainer, A Taste of Honey and four time Oscar_^® winner Tom Jones to Park Circus’ already extensive offering of classic British cinema.

Independent, Woodfall was formed in the late 50s by Tony Richardson, John Osborne and Harry Saltzman and was instrumental in bringing about the revolution in 20th century British cinema. Its films gave new voice and medium to the angry young men; the group who had rocked the cultural establishment earlier in the decade.

The explosion of gritty “Kitchen Sink” tell-it-like-it-is films landed on the world stage, forever marking a departure from the status quo, ushering in the British New Wave and establishing the socially-conscious, realist style that would largely come to define the nation’s cinema. Woodfall continued to grow and develop its repertoire also producing global blockbuster Tom Jones in 1963.
