PLF on the Rise: Premium Large Format market experiences a global expansion | Film Journal International

The total of premium-large-format (PLF) screens surpassed 2,000 worldwide for the first time at the end of 2015, an increase of 27% year-on-year, according to data from IHS Markit. (The exact figure was 2,099.) The surge in new PLF screens comes as exhibitors are upgrading ever-larger portions of their screen estates to premium, with PLF representing the optimal configuration of sight, sound and seating experiences.
