PORTISHEAD’S open air pool is to be turned into an outdoor cinema for the first time in its history this summer. The lido is being turned into a makeshift cinema on September 6, with a screening of the thriller Jaws. The screening is being put on by Weston-super-Mare’s Backyard Cinema and a large screen will be put up by the changing rooms with film buffs sitting on the terraces to enjoy the movie. This is the first time that the pool has been used for showing films, and if successful, further events could take place in the future. Pool spokeswoman, Barbara Thatcher, said: “We are delighted that the pool is being used as a venue for the screening of Jaws.
