Restoration starts on landmark cinema

Construction workers have arrived on site to start restoration work on a landmark listed Port Talbot cinema.

BAM Construction is beginning works under a pre-contract agreement with Neath Port Talbot Council to re-develop the grade II listed art deco building that was once frequented by Anthony Hopkins and Richard Burton.

Much of the original cinema’s facade will be retained as possible, with work expected to complete ahead of a re-opening in 2021 as a multi-purpose community hub with recreational facilities, shops, and office space for local businesses, among other things.
