ScreenX is the world’s first multi-projection theatre technology used within a theatre setting, marking it as the most visually advanced theatre experience of cinema tech innovator CJ 4DPLEX.
ScreenX allows moviegoers to go beyond the frame of the movie screen by utilising a proprietary system that expands images of feature films and pre-show advertising to the left and right walls of the theatre, creating a surrounding, panoramic, 270-degree viewing experience. To date, ScreenX has been installed in 267 screens around the world in 27 countries.
With over 150 industry professionals and hosted by leading UK film-critic, author and broadcaster Mark Kermode, CTC’s own ‘Last Projectionist Standing’ Dave Norris, veteran broadcaster Simon Mayo, British film composer David Arnold and compered by Patrick von Sychowski and Helen Budge, the awards night recognized individuals and organizations that continue to drive excellence in movie-going through the use of technology and outstanding service to the industry.
Speaking on the award-winning technology, President of CTC Richard Mitchell said: “Each year CTC awards one technology which has stood out above all others and has the potential to transform the movie-going experience. Over the past 12 months, the rapid global adoption of ScreenX and the positive feedback from movie-goers around the world suggests that this deeply immersive cinema experience has created transformative experiences and has the potential to change the very way we enjoy movies for years to come. The Directors, Governors and Advisory Council members warmly congratulate ScreenX for winning this prestigious award.”
