Announced at CineEurope 2016, Sony Digital Cinema 4K and MPS — the leading digital cinema services company in Europe — have agreed to integrate MPS’s newly launched OnCinema software client within Sony Theatre Management System (TMS) within Europe. This move would make Sony’s TMS solution the first in the industry to be fully integrated with the OnCinema platform, adding a number of possible substantial benefits to Sony’s exhibitor customers, including true end-to-end delivery and real-time feedback on key delivery status.
Once rollout begins, the OnCinema platform will be made available to European exhibitors as an option to Sony TMS equipped sites, with the update allowing Sony’s customers to utilise the very latest auto-KDM delivery technology when managing their content. For the first time, exhibitors will have a solution connected directly to MPS’s KDM generation platform, KeyGen, removing the need to handle KDM emails and manually ingest KDM files. The OnCinema technology does away with many of the manual stages of the content delivery process on which the industry has been reliant since digital cinema’s inception.
David McIntosh, Vice President, Sony Digital Cinema 4K for Europe and the Americas, welcomed the advance: “Integrating MPS’s OnCinema client into our TMS will allow our customers the option to access the very latest dynamic content delivery mechanisms, bringing greater efficiency to their operations. We’re looking forward to working with our customers in the coming months to discuss the possible migration and ensure we’re constantly offering them the best solutions for their
needs”.
Matt Aspray, President of MPS, commented: “We’re very excited about this collaboration with Sony Digital Cinema 4K. MPS has always been at the forefront of the KDM infrastructure in our industry and the latest version of our KDM management platform is incredibly powerful — integrating it with Sony’s TMS solutions through the OnCinema platform will allow it to reach far and wide.”
