Spanish cinema franchise brings accessibility to films

Madrid has opened today its first completely accessible cinema, which will show daily screenings of films adapted for people with hearing and visual disabilities. They will use support such as colour-coded subtitles, the installation of magnetic hearing loops and, for the visually impaired, audio-description through individual wireless headphones. From now on, screen six of the Cines Dreams Palacio de Hielo in the Spanish capital, following the example of Bilbao, Palma di Maiorca, Pamplona, Valencia and Saragozza, will adhere to the standards of the Cine Accesible® project. This uses ACCEplay technology developed by Navarra de Cine in collaboration with the University of Deusto, and allows complete access to films.
