Ster Kinekor Theatres go 100 per cent digital with Christie and AAM

South African cinema exhibitor Ster Kinekor Theatres has signed a deal with projector company Christie for a full digital cinema conversion. Ster Kinekor began the digital conversion back in 2008 with five Christie 2K projectors installed across their cinemas. Now it has decided to go 100 per cent digital with full conversion expected by mid-2013. Ster Kinekor is the major exhibitor in South Africa with 438 screens and 63,000 seats across 54 sites. Equipment chosen under this deal includes Christie Series 2 projectors, Solaria One, Solaria One+ projectors and Christie 4K projectors along with Christie’s Integrated Media Block (IMB). It is the first time for Christie that all these products will be featured in the same deployment.
