As showrunner of Doctor Who and Sherlock, two of British TV’s most popular exports, Steven Moffat is one of the best-known writers in the UK. It was a surprise to hear then, at a preview of his latest TV series, Douglas is Cancelled –starring Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey, Paddington) and Karen Gillan (Doctor Who, Jumanji, Guardians of the Galaxy)– that at one stage he was considering making the script as a movie.
