Wesleyan names building after Jeanine Basinger, who launched study of film out of love of motion pictures – Hartford Courant

Before film studies was an established academic area, Jeanine Basinger was in a corner of Wesleyan playing old James Cagney reels for students taking her class as an elective. She asked if she could develop a major in film studies.“I wanted to create something special here for what was really the love of my life, the study of motion pictures,” she said.
